I've become a music junkie.
I'm recording with a band at a state of the arc studio in Vancouver, WA, called Crossroads. I met the band through a fellow PBC student. They were having a conference and needed a lead guitarist. We clicked from the start. They invited me to play guitar for the album, and I more than obliged.
We're right in the middle of the process. Drums are complete. Now I'm putting down guitar tracks. Darren, our producer, is the most mellow, relaxed person you'll ever meet. He's from LA and his long, dirty-blonde hair shows it. He's also extremely patient. But not in the passive aggressive sense. With every wrong take, he simply makes a sarcastic remark, that would perhaps offend some, but to us, it makes us feel at home.
This is the technical side that only musicians will find useful to read:
I'm using a deluxe telecaster and an american strat through two amps: Fender Twin Reverb and Vox AC30. The tone is amazing.
For pedals, I'm using: a fulltone fulldrive 2, jekyll and hyde, vox big ben, boss giga delay, and a cheap Vox wah pedal.
Balancing my schedule around recording, working a job, and going to school full-time is bit demanding, but I never feel the recording side. It doesn't feel like a job. It comes totally natural.
Darren told me today, "You're turning into a lead guitarist right before our eyes" which is big compliment because my solos are so messy and disorganized right now.
This has been a huge learning experience and I can't wait to let you all hear the final project! The album will come out, most likely, in late Decemeber.
